Bernalillo County in New Mexico is forming a new steering committee to aid its Economic Development Department. The nine-member committee will support local economic strategies and was recently approved by the Board of County Commissioners.

Five members nominated by the board—Michael Guerrero, Javier Rojo, Joan Baker, Tim MacEachen, and Kelly O'Donnell—will represent each of the county's districts. These members are tasked with selecting an additional four committee members. The committee's composition aims for balanced representation from urban, rural, and tribal areas, with members skilled in various business areas.

Applications for the four open positions on the committee will be accepted until April 30. Interested individuals must submit a nomination form along with their résumé, either via email to EconDevCares@bernco.gov or by mail to the county's Economic Development office in Albuquerque.

The committee will begin meeting in the coming months and is set to present its recommendations to the board by October. To gather public input, the Economic Development Department is working with a polling firm and will hold at least three community meetings.

Interested parties can find more detailed information and access the nomination form online.
