The National Science Foundation and the National Radio Astronomy Observatory have announced a community event at The University of New Mexico, focusing on the Next Generation Very Large Array (ngVLA) telescope project. The session will take place on April 23, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the PAIS Auditorium (Room 1100). A Zoom webinar will be available for those unable to attend in person.

The ngVLA project proposes to establish over 200 radio dishes across North America, concentrating many antennas and the project's core in New Mexico. The telescope aims to explore celestial phenomena like galaxies and black holes, addressing questions about the origin of the universe.

The event encourages the local community to learn about the project, ask questions, and discuss potential impacts on the local environment and educational prospects. The ngVLA promises potential benefits such as research collaborations and STEM opportunities for New Mexico.

Individuals interested in astronomy or space exploration are invited to participate. For more details, inquiries can be directed to vpr@unm.edu.
