The University of New Mexico's Libraries have announced the recipients of the 2025 Jim and Mary Lois Friday Hulsman Undergraduate Library Research Awards. University Libraries supports the recognition of student and faculty research initiatives.

The awards spotlight both emerging and advanced research conducted by undergraduates. Eligible for submission are original research projects in various formats, such as research papers, design portfolios, compositions, posters, and digital projects.

This year, the committee received entries from students majoring in disciplines including American studies, environmental planning and design, civil engineering, sociology, and East Asian studies. The winners will each receive a cash prize and have their research added to the UNM Digital Repository. A ceremony will be held in April to honor their achievements.

- Second Place: Polly Elizabeth Bungum for "Emergency Food Access Relative to Household Incomes in ABQ"

- Third Place: Maria Clara Pedroza Santos for "Inside the Margins: Favelas Beyond the Tourist Lens"
