U.S. Congresswoman Melanie Stansbury, representing New Mexico's 1st district, has taken to social media to address concerns over the security of personal data and economic challenges in the country, as seen in a series of tweets. Stansbury, born in Farmington, New Mexico, in 1979 and a resident of Albuquerque, has been a member of Congress since 2021. Her posts on April 3, 2025, reflect her focus on a range of issues from data protection to economic policies.

In a statement addressing potential data breaches, Stansbury highlighted suspicions regarding Elon Musk and cryptocurrency Dogecoin's involvement in compromising personal data systems. Her post on April 3 states, "The American people demand to know why Elon Musk and DOGE are hacking our private data and what they’re doing with it—including Social Security, IRS, Treasury, and other sensitive data systems. That’s why I introduced an Oversight resolution this week demanding answers."

Stansbury also commented on the socio-political climate, posting a brief tweet on April 3 featuring the phrase, "Welcome to Trump’s America ."

Discussing economic issues, Stansbury expressed concern over the impact of tariffs and job losses. On the same day, she tweeted, "Let’s talk about the economy and what’s going on. Because we know these tariffs and job losses are going to make things worse. So, we’ve got to keep showing up and doing the work. "
