Bernalillo County officials have announced a public meeting to discuss the future of the New Mexico State Fairgrounds. The event, organized by Bernalillo County Board of Commissioners Vice Chair Adriann Barboa and the county’s Economic Development Department, aims to inform residents about the master plan process and the development of a Tax Increment Developmental District (TIDD) in the area.

The meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, February 26, from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. It will be held at the fairgrounds’ African American Pavilion, located at 300 San Pedro NE. Attendees can enter through the San Pedro and Copper entrance. Light refreshments will be provided.

In January, during an administrative meeting on January 28, the Board of Commissioners discussed a resolution concerning making the area a TIDD. A vote on its formation is set for March 11.

Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham previously announced in December that a request for proposal (RFP) had been issued to create a master plan for revitalizing the 236-acre site. This plan may include multi-use housing and other economic developments.

Officials from Expo New Mexico will join county representatives at the meeting to address questions from community members.
