The City of Albuquerque has announced key staffing updates by filling two critical leadership roles to ensure the consistent delivery of services and citywide operations. Mariela Ruiz-Angel has been appointed as the Associate Chief Administrative Officer (ACAO), while Nathan Martinez has taken on the role of Director of the General Services Department (GSD).
Mayor Tim Keller expressed his gratitude for the appointments, stating, "We are very fortunate to have both Mariela and Nathan continuing their work for the City in these new roles."
Mariela Ruiz-Angel, who hails from El Paso, Texas, has been described as a proud Chicana. She brings a wealth of experience to her new role as ACAO, having previously served as the Director of the Albuquerque Community Safety Department. Mayor Keller highlighted that Mariela will be filling the position left vacant after Bob White's retirement last year.
On the other hand, Nathan Martinez, a native Burqueño, has been appointed as the Director of the General Services Department. Nathan's extensive leadership experience in managing facilities, including at Sandia National Laboratories, has prepared him for this new role. It is noted that this appointment marks a return to public service for Nathan, who held previous roles with the City of Albuquerque and Bernalillo County.
Both Mariela and Nathan are set to play integral roles in guiding initiatives that aim to enhance services and operations within the City of Albuquerque.
