The Office of the Bernalillo County Assessor has announced that the mailing of the 2025 Notices of Value (NOV) will occur on May 1, pushed back from the usual date of April 1. This delay has been implemented due to recent constitutional changes to veterans' exemptions, which required legislative updates. Approval from the New Mexico Property Tax Division confirmed the extension to May 1.

According to the new legislation, the veterans’ exemption for the 2025 tax year has increased from $4,000 to $10,000 off the taxable value of a property. The NOV statement informs property owners about their property's assessed and taxable values, and includes their determined property tax. The Bernalillo County Treasurer’s Office is responsible for tax bill distribution and payment collection.

Property owners wishing to contest their property’s assessed value have 30 days from the mailing date, May 1, to file a protest with the Office of the Assessor. Protests can be submitted online at BernCo.gov/Assessor following the mailing date.

For further inquiries, individuals can contact the Office of the County Assessor via email at Assessor@BernCo.gov, visit in person at 415 Silver Ave SW, Albuquerque, NM 87102, mail correspondence to PO Box 27108, Albuquerque, NM 87125, or call at 505-222-3700.
