The University of New Mexico Alumni Association is set to recognize the 2025 recipients of its prestigious awards on February 27. The event, sponsored by Parnall Law, will honor eight distinguished alumni for their contributions to their respective fields, the university, and their communities.
The awardees include Iliana Limón Romero, Cynthia Chavez Lamar, Len Kravitz, Enrico Jeantete, Robert DeCampo, Abdullah Shah, Leola Tsinnajinnie Paquin, and Matthew Campen.
The ceremony will take place at The Event Center at The Sandia Golf Club. Tickets are available for $75 per person or $700 for a table sponsorship that includes eight tickets.
Iliana Limón Romero will receive the James F: Zimmerman Award. She is currently the assistant managing editor for sports at the Los Angeles Times. "During her tenure," it was noted that "the Times has won Associated Press Sports Editor grand slam honors."
Cynthia Chavez Lamar will be honored with the Bernard S. Rodney Award for her leadership in education as director of the Smithsonian’s National Museum of the American Indian.
Len Kravitz will receive the Erna S. Fergusson Award in recognition of his exceptional service to UNM as a professor and coordinator of Exercise Science.
Enrico Jeantete is set to receive the Zia Award for his work as Deputy Director at Kirtland Air Force Base's Space Systems Command.
Robert G. DelCampo will be awarded the Lobo Award for his significant service to UNM and achievements in his career as Senior Executive Director at UNM's Anderson School of Management.
Abdullah Shah is recognized with the Inspirational Young Alumni Award for his contributions through professional achievement and community service as a dentist serving low-income communities in Southern New Mexico.
Leola Tsinnajinnie Paquin will receive the Faculty Teaching Award recognizing her outstanding teaching efforts in Native American Studies at UNM.
Matthew J. Campen is acknowledged with the Research Award for his ongoing research into environmental health effects at UNM's College of Pharmacy.
