Accessibility Resource Center announces director finalists' forums

The Division of Student Affairs has announced the finalists for the director position at the Accessibility Resource Center following a nationwide search. The three candidates are Jessica Machado, G.L. Estes Wallace, and Margaret Rose McDonnell. Each will hold forums open to students and the public to discuss their experience and interest in the role.

Jessica Machado is currently a Senior Accessibility Associate at Disability Support Services, The George Washington University. Her forum is scheduled for Tuesday, February 18, from 10:45 to 11:45 a.m. at SUB Fiesta A&B. With over ten years in higher education disability access, she previously held positions at the University of Mary Washington and George Mason University.

G.L. Estes Wallace serves as Director of Seraphim Accessibility, LLC. His forum will take place on Friday, February 21, from 10:45 to 11:45 a.m., also at SUB Fiesta A&B. Wallace has an academic background in medical anthropology with expertise in global disability and accessibility policy.

Margaret Rose McDonnell is Director of the Center for Accessibility Resources at Saint Xavier University. Her forum is set for Tuesday, February 25, from 10:45 to 11:45 a.m., again at SUB Fiesta A&B. McDonnell manages a learning assistance program focused on academic support services for students with disabilities.

The new director's responsibilities include ensuring that students with disabilities receive necessary accommodations and support services to succeed academically and socially. The role involves overseeing service development and compliance with federal laws such as the ADA and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act.
