The University of New Mexico (UNM) has initiated a campus mobility survey aimed at enhancing safety and accessibility. The survey is open to students, faculty, staff, and visitors, who are encouraged to share their experiences with campus mobility. The feedback will inform the Safe Mobility Action Plan's recommendations.

UNM's Safe Mobility Action Plan is led by the UNM Campus Capital & Space Planning (CCSP) in collaboration with Pland Collaborative. The plan focuses on improving infrastructure and policies for active transportation users, including pedestrians and micromobility device users. These devices include bicycles, scooters, roller skates, rollerblades, and skateboards. While bicycles are considered micromobility devices, they will be addressed separately in the survey for detailed feedback.

The purpose of the survey is to gather insights into challenges faced by these users. "Creating a safer campus for pedestrians, cyclists, and micromobility riders requires the collective input of our entire university community," said Rosie Dudley, director of CCSP. "By sharing ideas in the Safe Mobility Action Plan survey, the UNM community will help us identify key issues, reduce conflicts in shared spaces, and implement practical safety measures to inform policy updates and ensure a safer, more accessible campus for everyone."

Participants have until March 10 to complete the seven-minute survey. The feedback will guide future policies and investments in infrastructure such as designated pathways and parking zones for micromobility devices.
