The University of New Mexico (UNM) has announced the schedule for public forums to introduce the finalists for the Assistant Vice President for Facility Services position within UNM Institutional Support Services. These forums are intended to allow the campus community to meet the candidates, understand their qualifications, and pose questions. The university emphasizes that community participation is vital in selecting the right leader for this role.
The Assistant Vice President (AVP) will report to the Vice President for UNM Institutional Support Services and will play a significant role in managing the campus's built environment. Responsibilities include overseeing maintenance, operations, housekeeping of all facilities and grounds, and utility systems management. Additionally, the AVP will promote priorities related to plant maintenance and improvements, provide leadership direction to the FDC team, and collaborate with project teams across campus.
Open to faculty, staff, and students, each forum session will feature a presentation by a candidate followed by a Q&A session. The virtual forum schedule is as follows:
- Monday, Feb. 3 | 1 – 1:45 P.M.: Russell Thompson
- Wednesday, Feb. 5 | 3:15 – 4 P.M.: Andy Krouse
- Monday, Feb. 10 | 1 – 1:45 P.M.: Mike Trest
Each candidate will deliver a brief presentation on their background and vision for the AVP role before engaging with attendees during a Q&A session.
The AVP position involves leading initiatives crucial to UNM's success such as maintaining facilities and grounds, overseeing utility systems, and collaborating on capital improvement projects across its extensive campus. The role also focuses on promoting sustainability and operational excellence.
