Bernalillo County's Family Wellness Shelter has expressed gratitude to BernCo Fire and Rescue for their efforts in organizing a Christmas gift drive for families residing at the shelter. This initiative brought holiday cheer to 22 families, ensuring everyone had a reason to smile during the season.
Commanders Pittarelli, Hoehn, and Conlin led the effort with contributions from firefighters across the department. They not only delivered gifts but also spent time with the families, fostering a meaningful connection.
The Family Wellness Shelter offers transitional housing and supportive services to help families work toward stable housing and employment. The shelter provides a safe environment along with programs such as case management, life skills training, and connections to community resources. Admission is based on referrals from various community organizations.
The shelter staff acknowledged team member Leora Perez and other staff members for their dedication to making the event successful. Their efforts align with the shelter’s mission of providing a supportive environment and comprehensive services to empower families toward self-sufficiency.
