Applications are now open for the Ms. Nancy Day Grant, which honors the memory of Ms. Nancy, a beloved kindergarten teacher. This grant has been supporting free educational programming with the ABQ BioPark for kindergarten classrooms in Albuquerque Public Schools (APS) since 2017.
The New Mexico BioPark Society has announced that applications for the Ms. Nancy Day grants are currently being accepted. The grant offers funding for visits to the ABQ BioPark Zoo, Aquarium/Garden, or provides a BioPark staff-led outreach to classrooms. Recipients of in-person field trip grants will receive complimentary admission to the BioPark, transportation, student lunches, and access to educational programs for all kindergarten classes at their school.
For outreach grants, recipients will engage in a 45-minute program conducted by animal experts from the BioPark’s education department. This program aims to bring students close to various animals while teaching them about natural wonders and animal adaptations essential for survival across different environments.
Applicants must submit one application per school after consulting with their principal. Eligibility is limited to schools within Albuquerque Public Schools. Applications can be submitted online.
The deadline for submitting applications for 2025 programs is January 10, 2025.
Nancy Day events are scheduled for April 3, 2025, at the aquarium and botanic garden and April 10, 2025, at the zoo.
