A man has been charged with robbing the 7 2 11 Gas Station in Shiprock, New Mexico. The incident involved an alleged assault on a cashier and theft of $276 from the register.
Ryan Douglas Yazzie, aged 27, made an appearance before a federal judge and will remain in custody until his trial date is set. According to the criminal complaint, Yazzie allegedly entered the gas station on October 31, 2024. He is accused of pushing a cashier to the ground and stealing a cash register drawer containing $276 before fleeing on foot.
If convicted, Yazzie could face up to 20 years in prison followed by three years of supervised release.
U.S. Attorney Alexander M.M. Uballez and Raul Bujanda, Special Agent in Charge of the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s Albuquerque Field Office, announced these developments today.
The Farmington Resident Agency of the FBI's Albuquerque Field Office led the investigation with support from the Navajo Nation Police Department and the Navajo Nation Department of Criminal Investigations.
It should be noted that a criminal complaint is merely an allegation at this stage. All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in court.
