Bernalillo County has announced a series of Free Dumping Weekends and Spring Green Waste Days at the East Mountain Transfer Station in Tijeras. This initiative, a partnership with the Ciudad Soil and Water Conservation District and the New Mexico Association of Counties, aims to provide residents the opportunity to dispose of waste without charge.
Residents living outside city limits can take advantage of the Free Dumping Weekends on the following dates: April 12-13, May 17-18, and June 21-22. Waste can be disposed of at no cost between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. during these weekends.
Following this, the Spring Green Waste Days will be available from April 21 through May 4. During this period, residents can drop off green waste such as leaves, dead branches, and brush for free at the East Mountain Transfer Station. All loads must be covered for safe transport.
These initiatives aim to promote responsible waste management and contribute to maintaining a clean environment in Bernalillo County. The events are sponsored by the county and supported by a Que Linda grant from the New Mexico Department of Transportation, which promotes beautification and litter reduction efforts across the state.
