Rep. Melanie Stansbury, who currently represents New Mexico’s 1st district in the U.S. Congress, conveyed her views on various issues through a series of tweets. Stansbury, who has served since 2021 after succeeding Deb Haaland, addressed topics including the recognition of Transgender Day of Visibility, the protection of public lands, and the passing of a colleague.

On March 31, 2025, Stansbury expressed her support for the transgender community, stating, "Today, on Transgender Day of Visibility, we want to double down on our commitment to supporting the Trans community in New Mexico and across the country. You are seen, you are heard, you are valued, you are loved, but most importantly, you belong. "

In another post on the same date, she emphasized the importance of preserving public lands, declaring, "We must protect our public lands! We just reintroduced America’s Red Rock Wilderness Act with 41 of our colleagues, which would protect more than eight million acres of precious and sacred lands, especially important to our Tribes and Pueblos."

Stansbury also lamented the death of a close friend and colleague, Senator Bill O’Neill, in her third tweet of the day. On March 31, 2025, she wrote, "So deeply sad to learn of the passing of my dear friend Senator Bill O’Neill. A poet, a playwright, a legislator, a humanitarian and a proud college footballer."
