PNM has canceled its planned Public Safety Power Shutoff (PSPS) in the East Mountains of Bernalillo County, New Mexico. The decision follows real-time weather data indicating that the storm's intensity is lower than expected. Despite this, Bernalillo County advises residents to remain prepared due to ongoing fire risks and potential weather-related outages.

The county's community centers in the East Mountains will stay closed today, March 6, and are scheduled to reopen on Friday, March 7.

PNM has made adjustments to system settings, increasing sensitivity to vegetation and debris that may contact electrical equipment. This change could result in longer restoration times if power outages occur, as manual inspections and repairs will be necessary for ensuring system safety. Residents are encouraged to monitor conditions closely and prepare for possible service disruptions.

Further information about the Public Safety Power Shutoff can be found at www.pnm.com/wildfire-safety. Updates on Bernalillo County Services are available at www.bernco.gov or through BernCo's social media channels.
