Bernalillo County in New Mexico has announced adjustments to its services due to a Public Safety Power Shutoff (PSPS) initiated by PNM. The shutoff is intended to mitigate wildfire risks during extreme weather conditions and is scheduled to start at noon on March 6, with potential outages extending overnight into the following day. There is currently no specified timeframe for when power will be restored.

The county has outlined that certain services will be closed during this period. Parents and guardians of children attending after-school programs at affected locations are advised to make alternative arrangements.

Despite the shutdown, essential services such as law enforcement, fire rescue, and emergency response will continue their operations without interruption. PNM will oversee the situation and restore power once it is deemed safe. However, inspections and necessary repairs might prolong the outages. Additionally, PNM warns that power disruptions could occur outside the designated shutoff areas due to the severity of the anticipated storm.

Residents seeking more information about the PSPS can visit www.pnm.com/wildfire-safety. Updates regarding Bernalillo County Services are available at www.bernco.gov or through BernCo's social media channels.
