Bernalillo County—The Local Government Coordinating Council (LGCC), which includes members from the Bernalillo County Commission, Albuquerque City Council, and Albuquerque Public Schools (APS), has approved a Joint Opioid Settlement Implementation Plan. This plan will be presented to the Albuquerque City Council, Bernalillo County Board of Commissioners, and the APS Board of Education for final adoption.

The lawsuit settlement entitles Bernalillo County and the City of Albuquerque to receive $150 million over 15 years.

Key elements of the Implementation Plan involve increasing physical capacity for local recovery providers by investing in new beds and facilities. It aims to expand treatment, interventions, and prevention through a competitive grant fund. Additionally, there is an investment in "Growing our Own" to provide capacity and sustainability via grants to local service providers. The plan proposes distributing funds with 60% towards treatment and 40% towards prevention. It also expands services supporting opioid treatment, intervention, prevention services, and includes the APS Crossroads program aimed at preventing alcohol, tobacco, and drug use while improving academic performance and student wellness.
