Rep. Melanie Stansbury, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing New Mexico's 1st district, shared a series of tweets on February 16, 2025, addressing various issues concerning education, environmental protection, and elder care.

On the topic of public education, Stansbury emphasized her personal connection as an Albuquerque Public School alumna. She expressed her commitment to preventing the dismantling of the Department of Education and its essential resources for children across New Mexico. "As an Albuquerque Public School kid, I know personally the importance of our public schools and how they transform lives. That is why I am fighting to stop the dismantling of the Dept. of Education and the vital resources it provides for kids across New Mexico." (February 16, 2025)

In another tweet later that day, Rep. Stansbury addressed concerns over environmental conservation efforts in New Mexico. She criticized initiatives aimed at opening sacred lands and waters to drilling and mining activities while calling for continued bipartisan support for critical programs protecting these areas. "Our communities’ sacred lands and waters are NOT FOR SALE. That’s why we are fighting to protect our air, land, and water from this reckless agenda to open them to drilling, mining, and rollbacks of critical programs that used to be bipartisan." (February 16, 2025)

Later that evening, Stansbury tweeted about her co-leadership with Rep. Carol Miller on the bipartisan SAFE Act focused on elder care. She underscored the importance of providing seniors with access to essential care and physical therapy services aimed at reducing falls—a significant cause of injury among older adults. "Our elders deserve the best care & quality of life we can provide. I am proud to co-lead the bipartisan SAFE Act with @RepCarolMiller." (February 16, 2025)
