The College of University Libraries and Learning Sciences (CULLS) has announced that Amy Jackson, the associate dean for University Libraries, has been chosen as a 2025 Fellow in the Association of Research Libraries (ARL) Intensive Learning Program (ILP) Task Force. Jackson is one of 20 library professionals selected for this leadership development opportunity.

The ARL Intensive Learning Program spans eight months and combines both in-person and online experiences. It focuses on the operational and strategic aspects of senior leadership roles within research libraries and archives. Participants engage in activities to improve their strategic thinking, decision-making skills, and leadership qualities such as integrity, compassion, and collegiality. The program features participation in the ARL Learning Summit, an association meeting, a research library site visit, monthly educational sessions, career coaching, and self-assessments.

Before her current role as associate dean, Jackson held several positions within CULLS including Director of Learning & Outreach Services, Performing Arts & Digital Arts Librarian, Digital Initiatives Librarian, and Metadata Technician. Her research interests include library outreach to creative practitioners and metadata interoperability for digital content. She has co-authored works like Music Research Data Management, Scholarship in the Sandbox, and The Metadata Manual: A Practical Workbook. Jackson earned a Master’s degree in Library Science from Simmons College in Boston and a Master’s degree in Music from the Peabody Institute of Johns Hopkins University.

The fellows for the 2025 cohort were selected by the ARL Intensive Learning Program (ILP) Task Force based on recommendations from the ILP Selection Working Group. The ILP aims to develop future senior leaders in research libraries by equipping them with essential knowledge and skills to navigate changes within academic and research institutions.
