The City of Albuquerque's Planning Department is set to upgrade its software systems with the introduction of ABQ-PLAN, a new platform designed to enhance planning logistics and networking. The transition from the current POSSE and AVOLVE systems will begin at 5:00 pm on January 16, 2025. During this period, online services will be unavailable, preventing users from applying for permits or scheduling inspections. However, pending projects and applications will remain accessible once ABQ-PLAN becomes operational.

The department aims to complete the transition by January 28, 2025. To assist users during this period, live customer support will be available at the Plaza del Sol building along with online tutorials and public training sessions.

Planning Department Director Alan Varela commented on the upgrade: “We are looking forward to an easier and better online system for our customers.” He acknowledged potential inconveniences during the transition but emphasized efforts to minimize challenges: “Our goal is to work with the vendor to minimize the difficulties and get the new system up and running as soon as possible.”

ABQ-PLAN promises a user-friendly portal that allows users to manage projects, submit plans, schedule inspections, pay fees, and more. It aims to streamline applications and payments for all activities within the Planning Department.
