Dozens of job seekers attended the ABQ RIDE Hiring Event at the Ken Sanchez Transit Facility in Albuquerque. The event aimed to fill positions within the city's transit system, offering a range of benefits and incentives to attract potential employees.
Mayor Tim Keller highlighted the significance of these opportunities, stating, “Jobs in City transit can be a game-changer for families.” He emphasized that careers in city transit offer financial security and growth prospects along with health and retirement benefits.
ABQ RIDE is actively recruiting by offering competitive benefits and hiring incentives. Transit Director Leslie Keener noted, “We want this to be our employees’ last job,” stressing the organization's commitment to creating a supportive work environment.
Motorcoach Operator Denise Muñiz-Archibeque shared her positive experience with ABQ RIDE’s hiring process: “Just show up, fill out a few forms, answer questions, and walk out with endless possibilities… I did!”
Employees at ABQ RIDE receive various benefits including significant annual city benefits packages, free CDL training valued at $5K, and competitive salary packages that can exceed $85K after three years of employment.
Community applicant Rebecca Gonzales expressed satisfaction with her experience at the event: “[The Hiring Event] was a great experience today – it was welcoming from parking, to coming inside, and getting my application status and interviews done.”
Transit HR Manager Thomas Martinez encouraged those who missed the event to apply online: “It’s not too late to apply if you are interested and couldn’t attend the event today – apply on the City of Albuquerque website.”
ABQ RIDE aims to provide safe, clean, and reliable transportation services. At the time of this release, 42 conditional job offers had been extended with more applicants still under consideration.
