An inmate at the Bernalillo County Metropolitan Detention Center (MDC) passed away on Thursday despite extensive life-saving efforts. The deceased has been identified as Raymond Mills, aged 41.
Mills was booked into the facility on Wednesday afternoon and subsequently moved to medical housing. On Thursday morning, around 8:16 a.m., a medical emergency occurred, leading to a code being called. MDC staff, in conjunction with the UNM Hospital medical team, responded promptly and began administering life-saving measures.
The Albuquerque Ambulance Service and the Bernalillo County Fire Department (BCFD) arrived at approximately 8:50 a.m. to assist in stabilizing Mills. However, despite their efforts, Mills was pronounced dead by UNM Hospital staff at around 9:09 a.m. His next of kin have been informed of his passing.
