Residents of Albuquerque and Bernalillo County now have a new way to access library resources with the launch of an app by the Public Library Albuquerque/Bernalillo County. This development aims to connect users with knowledge and opportunities while promoting learning and achievement within the community.

Mayor Tim Keller commented on the initiative, stating, “We all use our phones now for nearly everything, so we’re modernizing to create seamless access to library resources anytime, anywhere. This innovation makes things easier for everyone and strengthens the connection between the library and the families and institutions who depend on it.”

The app offers several features designed to enhance user experience, including searching the catalog, placing holds, editing or canceling existing holds, viewing and renewing checked-out materials, accessing a digital library card for quick in-branch checkouts, using location services to find nearby branches, and resetting library PINs. Future updates are expected to introduce more features.

Kelli Murphy, acting library director, emphasized convenience for patrons: “We understand our patrons lead busy lives. We’re thrilled to offer an app that allows them to search, hold, and renew materials whenever it’s most convenient for them.”

The Public Library ABQ-BernCo app is available for download on iOS and Android devices. Users can find it by searching “The Public Library ABQ-BernCo” in their respective app stores.
