Bernalillo County, in partnership with New Mexico MainStreet and South Valley MainStreet, celebrated the holiday season at the newly renovated Dolores Huerta Park. This event marked the completion of a nearly five-year effort to enhance the park according to the community's vision. The goal was to establish it as a venue for La Familia Grower's Market, supported by New Mexico MainStreet and local farmers.

The celebration featured music, dancing, luminaria lighting, Santa Claus visits for children, and a food truck showcasing the park's new amenities.

The renovation project resulted from collaboration between Bernalillo County and its partners, alongside extensive community engagement in South Valley. Improvements include ADA access, food truck hook-ups, outdoor performance spaces, festive lighting, and shade structures. These enhancements aim to support local businesses and increase the park's functionality for various events like farmers' markets. With added shade, seating, lighting, and landscaping, the park is now better equipped for summer activities.

For Bernalillo County, these developments align with their "Cultivating Bernalillo County Resolution," focusing on supporting local food producers through community-based initiatives.
