Each year, The University of New Mexico (UNM) highlights inspiring graduates as part of its commencement ceremonies. These stories celebrate the leadership, courage, and perseverance of students who have enriched the university community.

Lillian Walker, graduating with a Bachelor of Population Health, was inspired by her childhood experiences with financial hardships and healthcare challenges. Her interest in public health grew from witnessing her family's struggles with medical expenses.

Mackenzie Sydow is earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and Community Health. Her journey to graduation was influenced by her family's nursing background, although she initially planned to pursue nursing herself.

Gregory Aragon, a Captain with Albuquerque Fire Rescue, balances his demanding career with studies. Graduating with a Bachelor of Liberal Arts, Aragon is known for his dedication both in emergency response and education.

Gabrielle Domingo Kashuba will receive her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from UNM's College of Nursing. Originally from the Philippines, Kashuba completed her degree through an online program tailored for working nurses after moving to the U.S. seeking better opportunities.

These graduates exemplify UNM's diverse and resilient student body.
