Bernalillo County Commissioners have confirmed that the county's $132 million in American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funding will be fully committed by December 31, 2024. This decision aligns with the federal allocation deadline.
During a Board of County Commissioner’s Administrative Meeting, a motion was approved to ensure efficient management of these funds. The motion addresses three main areas: allowing the county manager to reallocate ARPA funds among existing projects before the end of 2024 to prevent disruptions and meet deadlines; authorizing reclassification of any leftover funds after January 1, 2025, for other eligible projects or cost increases; and granting authority to finalize agreements for reallocated or reclassified funds, ensuring smooth project management and oversight.
