Bernalillo County has announced a new traffic pattern at the intersection of Bridge Boulevard and Isleta Boulevard. This change is part of the ongoing Bridge Boulevard Phase 2 Reconstruction Project in Albuquerque's South Valley.

The updated traffic pattern allows westbound Bridge Boulevard to feature a through lane in each direction, with southbound turns onto Isleta Boulevard permitted. The westbound lanes will now transition through the intersection, enabling two-way traffic on the eastbound lanes from Isleta Boulevard to Young Avenue.

Starting today, Bridge Boulevard will be closed from Isleta Boulevard to Young Avenue for about one week. During this period, crews will prepare the road, lay the base layer, and pave the bottom layer of asphalt. After completion, westbound lanes will reopen, and all westbound traffic will shift onto these new lanes. Businesses in the area will remain open and accessible during construction.

Phase 2 of the project includes several improvements: a full roadway section with new asphalt resurfacing, ADA-compliant sidewalks and wheelchair ramps, pedestrian and motorist lighting, buffered bike lanes, a storm drain system, curb and gutter enhancements, an ITS system, adaptive traffic signals, pavement markings, and signage.
