Animal Welfare officials have taken custody of 19 mixed breed dogs following a suspicious death investigation at the 4500 block of Glendale Place NW. The dogs, each weighing between 30 to 50 pounds, were removed for community safety reasons.

The department confirmed that the animals would be kept separate from other animals while the investigation is ongoing. "The dogs will remain under the department’s care throughout the investigation," authorities stated.

Further details about the incident will be disclosed as more information becomes available.
