The City of Albuquerque's Department of Arts & Culture and the Public Art Urban Enhancement Division recently celebrated the grand opening of Gallery One at City Hall, showcasing the creative works of city employees. The 2024 Employee Art Exhibit features artwork from seventy-one employees representing every City department, using a variety of methods and media such as glass, sculpture, embroidery, painting, drawing, and photography.
Mayor Tim Keller expressed the significance of the exhibition, stating, "Albuquerque is a place that values its thriving artistic spirit. This is a special showcase of City employees' artwork that gives a glimpse of the diverse talent and creative spark they demonstrate behind the scenes every day."
In addition to visual art, the exhibit will also feature the musical talents of city employees through the Public Art Program's Airbud™ Afternoon Playlist series. Original musical compositions by employees will be shared with gallery visitors during the exhibition, providing a unique audio experience for attendees to appreciate the artistic talents of city workers.
The Employee Art Exhibit will be on display at Gallery One, located on the first floor of City Hall at 1 Civic Plaza NW, until April 19. The gallery is open to the public from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday, offering a glimpse into the creativity, imagination, and artistry of the individuals who contribute to the city's progress and cultural richness.
