Bernalillo County is accepting public comments about renaming the South Valley Aquatic Center (South Valley Pool) as The Frank J. Gallegos Jr. South Valley Aquatic Center.
Frank J. Gallegos, Jr. passed away in 2020, and the Adobe Acres Neighborhood Association would like to rename the South Valley Aquatic Center after him.
He was a lifetime member of the South Valley and an advocate for improvements in the South Valley, including upgrades to the swimming pool. Gallegos volunteered at Adobe Acres Elementary, South Valley Preparatory School and South Valley Academy. He was affectionately known as “Grandpa Frank” to the children.
