We're here for you, New Mexico!
We know this wildfire season has taken its toll on our community and our beautiful state, so when we were called upon by the State of NM to help protect the areas impacted by the wildfires in northern New Mexico, we got right to work!
Two weeks ago, BernCo Emergency Management and Public Works staff worked with the State EOC, NMDOT, and AMAFCA to organize available materials and equipment to provide sand bags to residents in Mora County and San Miguel County.
Over two days (Father's Day & Juneteenth weekend, nonetheless!), the county provided over 500 cubic yards of sand and four light plants towards the state's effort to address the flash flooding expected as a result of the Hermits Peak / Calf Canyon fire.
This is a perfect example of how our county staff continually step up to help not only our residents, but others throughout the state. We utilized our established relationships to collaborate and pull together the available resources to accomplish the task, and we are SO PROUD.
Thank you, BernCo Staff, Albuquerque Metropolitan Arroyo Flood Control Authority, and NMDOT for a job well done. We appreciate you!
