Bernalillo County Sheriff's Office issued the following announcement on April 9.
Bernalillo County Emergency Communications Department has been flooded with calls from citizens receiving scam phone calls claiming to be BCSO deputies. Please ignore these calls and do not give any personal information or forms of payment over the phone. These "professional" scammers are only trying to trick people into giving them money. BCSO will never ask for any payment over the phone for a warrant or any other reason.
Rest assured, if you have a warrant, we will come to you.
