Bernalillo County Sheriff's Office issued the following announcement on March 26.
On Tuesday, March 22, 2022, the Bernalillo County Sheriff's Office responded to a call for service reference an Endangered Missing Person, Jacob Bushey. Jacob Bushey was last heard from on March 21st, 2022. It was learned that he was last seen in Tijeras, NM, at the Cedro Peak Campground.
On March 24, 2022, at approximately 7:33 pm, deputies were dispatched to the area of 114 Juan Thomas, reference a welfare check. Deputies arrived on scene and located Bushey nearby. Bushey was confirmed deceased on scene and was beyond any life-saving measures. BCSO's Safe Child Unit, Violent Crimes Unit, and Traffic Unit responded to the scene.
At this point in the investigation, the cause of death is unknown. It does not appear there was any foul play.
This case is currently being investigated, and the next of kin has been notified.
