Representative Melanie Stansbury, who has been serving New Mexico’s 1st district in the U.S. Congress since 2021, took to social media to express her concerns about recent administrative actions affecting federal workers and constitutional matters. Known for her advocacy on social issues, Rep. Stansbury issued a series of tweets criticizing both former President Donald Trump and business leader Elon Musk for decisions impacting federal agencies and employees.

On April 3, 2025, Rep. Stansbury stated that "New Mexico is home to more than 30,000 federal employees. The lawless firings of federal workers by Trump and Musk have affected families across the state and could cripple federal agencies, including those that deal with social security, tribal affairs, natural disasters, and."

The following day, on April 4, 2025, Stansbury posted another tweet, asserting the impossibility of a third presidential term for Donald Trump. She wrote, "There is absolutely NO situation in which Donald Trump will serve a third term as President of *these* United States, full stop." Stansbury further criticized the current administration and the Republican Party for actions she perceives as undermining the Constitution and the Rule of Law. Encouraging public involvement, she urged, "We must continue to raise our voices!"

Also, on April 4, 2025, Stansbury remarked on social security staff reductions linked to Trump and Musk, stating that "Social Security has lost 7,000 employees over the last two months under the Trump Administration and Elon Musk. Now, they are planning to fire thousands more and shut down offices across the country." Emphasizing the importance of welfare, she stressed that "Our elders and people living with disabilities deserve dignity and respect."
