Bernalillo County issued the following announcement on Dec. 2.
Bernalillo County, in partnership with the City of Albuquerque, today announced the opening of a third wellness hotel in the city to provide more housing options to support vulnerable individuals experiencing homelessness.
Families who are homeless or have recently been displaced, can stay at the hotel with rooms, meals, beverages and snacks being provided by the City of Albuquerque at no cost to the housed families. There is also laundry service as needed.
The wellness hotel is handicap-accessible and will have 24-hour security. All individuals staying at the hotel have to be COVID-19 negative.
Bernalillo County staff will provide site management from 8 a.m. to midnight every day.
Two other wellness hotels are housing COVID-negative homeless persons 60 years of age or older to isolate them from the virus, and in another hotel are COVID-negative homeless persons younger than 60 years of age who are at risk due to health issues.
