Bernalillo County issued the following announcement on Sept. 17.
Bernalillo County, the City of Albuquerque, the National Park Service, and The University of New Mexico have partnered to prepare a conceptual plan that outlines a vision for the development of El Camino Real de Tierra Adentro National Historic Trail within Bernalillo County. The plan will include ideas for preservation and public use of the historic trail routes. The projects that will be recommended within the plan are intended to contribute towards tourism, economic development, and cultural preservation. An important goal of the plan is to provide communities along this historic route a way to tell their own stories and share elements of their history and culture that will make the visitor experience more comprehensive, authentic, and meaningful. We are asking for your input to:
- Identify sites located along the historic route that can be developed for the public to visit, experience, and learn about the National Historic Trail.
- Identify preferred routes for a multi-modal trail following the historic alignment.
