ALBUQUERQUE PUBLIC SCHOOLS: ABQ the Magazine Recognizes 12 APS Teacher Who Go Above & Beyond

Award

Albuquerque Public Schools issued the following announcement on April 8.

Many of our teachers, and staff for that matter, go above and beyond for the students and families we serve. That has become even more evident during this public health crisis.

Thanks to all who go above and beyond every day. And congratulations to the 12 teachers who were nominated by colleagues, students, and families a few months ago (many of whom appear in the magazine photos along with them). The honor is well deserved!

Dona Sosa, Pre-K and kindergarten teacher at Bel-Air Elementary (nominated by the parent of a student)

Abby Carlson, fifth-grade teacher at Bel-Air Elementary (nominated by an administrator)

Cristina Mancuso, 8th-grade teacher and activities director at Tony Hillerman Middle School (nominated by a colleague)

DeAnna Sherred, first-grade teacher at Griegos Elementary (nominated by the parent of a student)

Isla Porras, math teacher at Manzano High School (nominated by a former student)

Jessica Isler, third-grade teacher at Osuna Elementary (nominated by the parent of a student)

Lisa Maynes, first-grade teacher at Manzano Mesa Elementary (nominated by two parents of students)

Margie Barnett, special education teacher at Cibola High School (nominated by a colleague)

Melissa Waller, teacher of the gifted at North Star Elementary (nominated by the parent of a student)

Nichole Peters, librarian at Hodgin Elementary School (nominated by her husband)

Samantha Hannah, special education teacher at Collet Park Elementary (nominated by a former colleague)

Sarah Coddon, science teacher at Eldorado High School (nominated by a student)
