Republicans showed up at the polls on Nov. 5,  helping to secure many GOP victories.

Several individuals who won re-election included District 8 Councilor Trudy Jones and Albuquerque Public Schools Board member Peggy Muller-Aragon, who won with 56 percent and 57 percent of the votes in their respective elections, according to the New Mexico GOP.

“This election shows that Republicans are engaged and are coming out to support the candidates and the issues that matter in our communities,” Anissa Tinnin, executive director of the New Mexico GOP, said in the press release. “We will carry this terrific momentum into the 2020 elections.”

Other big Republican victories mentioned in the press release include the vote against Proposition 2, which would have created what the GOP called an "unfair campaign finance system," and the win of District 4 Councilor candidate Brooke Bassan, who got 48.9 percent of the vote compared to her opponent's 42 percent. Bassan will now face Ane Romero in the Dec. 10 runoff.
