Albuquerque City Council President Brook Bassan and Councilor Renée Grout have condemned a suspected arson at the Republican Party of New Mexico's headquarters. The incident is under investigation by Albuquerque Fire Rescue Department, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), and other law enforcement agencies.

"We are grateful that no one was harmed in this dangerous attack," said Council President and District 4 Councilor Brook Bassan. She added that the safety and security of individuals and organizations is a government responsibility and stressed community unity against threats to safety.

District 9 City Councilor Renée Grout echoed Republican Party of New Mexico Chairwoman Amy Barela, stating, "Such actions have no place in our community. Those who resort to intimidation or violence to silence others must be held accountable." Grout urged anyone with information to cooperate with authorities.

The Albuquerque City Council reaffirmed its commitment to free speech and peaceful assembly, calling on the community to assist in reinforcing the city's dedication to respectful dialogue and safety.
