The City of Albuquerque's Workforce Development Liaison, Justin Hilliard, has been honored with the 2025 Staff Achievement Award. This accolade was presented by New Mexico IDEA during a luncheon held on February 10 at Hotel Santa Fe. The award acknowledges individuals who exceed their usual responsibilities to promote economic success and community revitalization.
Hilliard's role in advancing Job Training Albuquerque (JTA), in collaboration with Central New Mexico Community College (CNM), has been pivotal. Under his leadership, JTA has supported over 2,600 employees from 320 small businesses, helped create 1,225 new jobs, and contributed $58.7 million in increased earning power to the local economy.
In 2024, Hilliard spearheaded efforts to expand JTA’s training programs to align with industry demands. These expansions included Spanish-language courses, hospitality training with the New Mexico Restaurant Association, and a federal grants management training program. These initiatives have improved access to workforce development and bolstered Albuquerque’s small business sector.
"Workforce development is about people—helping individuals gain new skills, supporting small businesses as they grow, and strengthening our city’s economy in the process," said Justin Hilliard. "I’m proud to be part of a program that continues to open doors for so many."
Hilliard's commitment to creating a resilient and skilled workforce has had a significant impact on economic development both locally and beyond. His recognition with the 2025 Staff Achievement Award underscores the importance of workforce training in driving economic growth.
