The City of Albuquerque is preparing for the summer hiring season with its annual Youth Job & Volunteer Fair. The event, now in its seventh year, will take place on February 1st at the Berna Facio Professional Development Complex. It targets young individuals aged 14 to 25 and serves as a gateway to summer employment opportunities.

Director Katarina Sandoval highlighted the importance of early work experiences, stating, “Everyone remembers their first job! We look forward to providing that experience for Albuquerque’s youth as well as other educational sessions to prepare them for the workforce.”

The fair will feature a wide range of job opportunities from various employers across the metro area. This includes more than ten departments from the City of Albuquerque and numerous local businesses and non-profits. Attendees will have access to career exploration services provided by the New Mexico Department of Workforce Solutions and financial empowerment guidance from Rio Grande Credit Union. Additional workshops will cover topics such as public speaking, interview skills, and professionalism.

Mayor Tim Keller emphasized the significance of creating opportunities for young people: “Giving teens opportunities to succeed is key in building the next generation of leaders. Young people want safe spaces and opportunity for success. This job fair is one of the many ways the City looks to connect them with those spaces.”

As one of New Mexico's largest employers of young people, expanding youth programming remains a priority for Mayor Keller's administration. The event is free but requires pre-registration. More information about this year's One ABQ: Youth Job and Volunteer Fair can be found at cabq.gov/jobfair.
