Representative Melanie Stansbury, currently serving New Mexico's 1st District in the U.S. Congress, has been active on social media sharing her recent activities and expressing concerns about federal policies. Stansbury, who succeeded Deb Haaland in 2021, is also a former member of the New Mexico House of Representatives.

On January 28, Stansbury expressed her enthusiasm about returning to her home district. "I am so happy to be home! I’ll be spending time in our communities, talking to all of you, giving remarks to the State Legislature, and of course, eating all the chile!" she tweeted.

Later that day, she addressed an issue related to federal assistance. "Straight out of Project 2025! Trump’s OMB has issued a freeze on federal assistance—impacting potentially billions in federal contracts," she wrote. She encouraged constituents affected by this development to reach out.

On January 29, Stansbury criticized Donald Trump's administration for what she described as chaotic governance. "Donald Trump calls his Admin the 'New Golden Age,' but let's call it what it is: 'The Great Betrayal.' He promised he would address the cost of living and issues affecting Americans. But in just seven days, he's disrupted every aspect of American life. He is chaos."
