Bernalillo County is seeking $1 million in funding to support PB&J Family Services, which aids families dealing with various challenges including incarceration, foster care, developmental disabilities, behavioral health issues, and domestic violence.
The county owns the building that currently houses PB&J and aims to secure capital outlay funding for constructing a new facility. This new building will be located at Lopez Road and Armijo Road in the South Valley, close to the existing structure. It will accommodate PB&J’s core programming to continue assisting families in need.
The current building is over 100 years old and costly to maintain. The construction of the new facility has already begun with early site work underway. The county seeks funds to progress with this phase of the project.
“We are eager to continue with this project which will allow us to expand and enhance our programs for those who need it most,” says Angie Vachio, co-founder and board president of PB&J Family Services. “The new facility will not only improve our ability to support families, but it will also provide a safe and nurturing environment for children, helping them thrive even in difficult circumstances.”
