Kairos Power seeks modifications to existing permit for facility enhancements

The applicant, Kairos Power Southwest, is seeking a modification to their existing permit, #1958-M1-1AR. The proposed changes include the installation of two 18,000 acfm Donaldson DFE 4-32 dust collectors, one carbonizing furnace, a Pebble Development Laboratory (PDL), three engineering testing units, seven building exhaust vents, and a 3 HP diesel-fired emergency fire pump.

Additionally, the proposal involves replacing a 183 HP John Deere diesel-fired emergency fire pump with a more powerful 422 HP diesel-fired version. Modifications are also planned for a 900 HP Caterpillar diesel-fired emergency generator and four 1490 HP Cummins diesel-fired emergency generators.

The public comment period for this application began on January 17, 2025, and will end on February 17, 2025. A decision regarding the permit modification is expected by April 13, 2025.
