Bernalillo County is preparing for inclement weather by deploying its road maintenance crews to ensure the safety of the roads. The county's snowplows and other road maintenance equipment have been operational since early this morning to clear the roads.
The county has four maintenance districts: North Valley, South Valley, North Mountain, and South Mountain. These districts are responsible for maintaining a total of 732 miles of roadway. Roads are prioritized for plowing based on factors such as traffic volume and sharp curves.
