The University of New Mexico's Bureau of Business and Economic Research (BBER) is preparing to host its 26th annual New Mexico Data Users Conference on November 20. The event, organized by the BBER Data Bank, aims to provide a platform for learning, sharing, and networking around data.
This conference serves as a significant forum for both novice and experienced data users within New Mexico and neighboring regions. It is designed to benefit individuals involved in grant writing, economic development, Census data work, or state research. Participants from private businesses, government agencies, service organizations, information providers, researchers, and students across New Mexico are encouraged to attend.
The conference will feature various presentations. Among them are "New Mexico Population Estimates and Projections" by Robert Rhatigan and Jacqueline A. Miller from UNM Geospatial Population Studies. Michael O’Donnell, BBER’s director, will review New Mexico's recent economic performance and provide a short-term economic outlook during lunch.
Other notable sessions include "Census Tribal Data" by Charles Tippeconnic of the U.S. Census Bureau; "Tips on how to use data.census.gov" by KaNin Reese; "New Mexico Labor Market Information tools" by Raymond Sena from the N.M. Department of Workforce Solutions; AI updates from Todd Quinn; Education Data with Dawn Kenny; "Census Business Builder Tool" explained by Nidaal Jubran; and "Mapping and GIS Resources" with Shawn Penman.
