An Arizona man has been charged with sexually abusing a minor at a fair, according to a criminal complaint. Webster Hot, 64, an enrolled member of the Navajo Nation, appeared before a federal judge and will remain in custody until his trial date is set.

The indictment alleges that on October 5-6, 2024, Hot sexually abused an 8-year-old girl at the Northern Navajo Nation Fair in Shiprock, New Mexico. The incident reportedly took place inside Hot's camper truck.

If convicted, Hot could face a sentence ranging from 30 years to life in prison, followed by supervised release for at least five years up to life.

U.S. Attorney Alexander M.M. Uballez and Raul Bujanda, Special Agent in Charge of the FBI Albuquerque Field Office, announced the charges. The Farmington Resident Agency of the FBI’s Albuquerque Field Office led the investigation with support from the Navajo Nation Department of Investigation and Department of Criminal Investigations. Assistant United States Attorney Brittany DuChaussee is handling the prosecution.

It is important to note that a criminal complaint is merely an allegation and all defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in court.
