District 8 City Councilor Dan Champine has released a statement regarding the withdrawal of proposed Ordinance O-24-39 during the November 4, 2024, City Council Meeting. In his statement, Champine emphasized the importance of integrity and accountability in governance.

Champine expressed that his initial support for the bill was based on the belief that it would benefit the community. However, he noted that as discussions continued and feedback was received from stakeholders such as constituents, experts, and advocacy groups, he realized his understanding of the legislation's implications was incomplete.

He stated, “I assure you that my change of vision is not a sign of weakness but rather a testament to the evolving nature of leadership. It is a reminder that our work as public servants involves ongoing learning and adaptation in response to the needs of the people we serve.”

Councilor Champine thanked those who supported him during this process and highlighted his commitment to building a government responsive to community values.
